After a management change, Macy's began to come to Spaeth Design with more interior projects. This was the first of 3 (so far) visual focal points in the mold of a large stylized Christmas tree ornament. They are large and complex; essentially an entire Christmas window in a 6' globe. Each one is suspended above the sales floor, making this project largely about technical difficulties, such as engineering and sightlines. As the fabrication of this Ornament was delayed by superstorm Sandy - and some of our suppliers literally under water - this was a two-year project, which allowed enough time to create a more elegant design and more robust engineering solutions. These ornaments are installed yearly, with no anticipated date of retirement.
